Play games, waste people's time, pretend to be someone you’re not and demand ungodly expectations from someone you barely even know. It’s 2023. Let’s roll the old dice, shall we?

But fear not, my friends! Because today, we’re going to dive into the murky waters of dating and explore some of the most controversial and polarizing opinions out there.

So, grab a glass of wine and get ready for some serious dating discussions that will make you laugh, nod in agreement, and maybe even shake your head in disbelief and brand me whatever cliched stamp you’ll give me. But, most importantly, let’s have some fun and open up a dialogue in the comments because isn’t that what dating is all about?

The expectation of perfection

Let’s start off with the easy ones, shall we? I hear of too many people looking for love that describes their ideal partner, and sometimes I wish they wouldn’t. Cause then I have to be the asshole that lets them know this person does not exist. We all have our own set of flaws and imperfections, and yet so many people looking for something or people in a relationship have this grandiose expectation that their potential partners are to be perfect.

Relationship expert Dr. John Gottman states, “The most destructive pattern in any relationship is when one partner idealizes the other and the other partner demonizes the first.”

A study by the University of Utah found that people who have high expectations for their partners are more likely to be disappointed in their relationships. They also found that people with high expectations for their partners were more likely to experience negative emotions such as anger and resentment.

Louis C.K. once said, “Nobody is perfect. You just have to find the person whose flaws are the ones you can live with.” So please stop looking for your perfect partner and realize we’re all trying to be our best at the very least. That…
