Age ain’t nothing but a number?
Can’t all of you mind your fucking business with who people choose to date and marry? Aren’t you sick of reading these articles where people clutch their pearls about age differences?
The most recent news of actress Millie Bobby Brown’s engagement at 19 to a fiancé who’s only a year older has been met with more than a bit of controversy. People are whining on Twitter and basically predicting her marriage to be an abject failure eventually.
So is 19 too young to get engaged? Or are we being restrained by traditional societal norms? Why do people care so much about this when they don’t seem to care about people just a year younger joining only fans?
How does it all look?
Now, I can empathize with the skeptics on some level. After all, the idea of such a significant commitment at such a young age can be hard to fathom for a lot of people because they’re still figuring life out. But I’d hardly have a digital pitchfork on Twitter and start having a meltdown about it. It’s none of our business.
Firstly use your brain; engagement is not synonymous with immediate marriage. It’s a pledge, a promise of future commitment that may not culminate in wedding bells ringing tomorrow; they could get married in 5 years, eight years, or one year. It’s just an engagement.
