Apparently, men are settling for mediocre relationships!
Another day, another annoying and superficial hot take based on nothing but someone's myopic and jaded opinion.
Oh boy.
We’re fifteen days into the new year, and already, there’s a misandrist-filled trend. It’s become a common theme on social media to portray men as being in relationships because it’s convenient or because they’re ready to settle down. The trend makes it look like men view relationships as they do parking spots — ‘Close enough and it’ll do, no need to keep looking.’ Why are we reduced to such insular and simplistic representations?
Yes, there are even nonsensical articles about them on Medium, too. The alleged implication is that these men will only date someone who meets their standards, but if that person isn’t around when they’re ready to commit, they’ll stick with what comes first.
This stereotype, much like others, is harmful and not reflective of the complexity of relationships and how they form. Which is why I’m shocked that such drivel is being tossed around.
Do people really look at other people this narrow-mindedly? Is there really no part of their brain…
