Friends with Benefits Can Be Incredibly Problematic
Ah, yes, friends with benefits. An oldie but not a goodie. One of the oldest dating tropes that still rears its ugly head. Can you truly be friends with benefits and not be emotionally attached?
I have never been able to make friends with benefits work. Probably because I’ve only ever tried it twice, and the other reason is that I’m not really wired that way. There’s probably some psychological or childhood trauma I haven’t dealt with or whatever. But the reality is, I just never liked the premise.
You get intimate with someone cause you’re “friends,” but the socially binding contract means nothing can go further than that.
Weird.
My emotions will always get the better of me. That’s how I like it; heaven forbid I ever become so socially devoid that I can bang someone’s brains out and feel absolutely nothing toward them. That sounds sociopathic to me.
