How Do Women Weigh Looks, Money, and Status When Dating Men?

Confession.

I used to be a waste of space who talked the talk but never walked the walk.

In 2014 I was the heaviest I’ve ever been. I went from a 200-pound football athlete in university to 282 pounds. I was let go from a start-up that went bust past Series A. To make matters worse, I got dumped about two weeks after I was let go. Most of the time, I played video games and watched movies all day. I rarely read, didn’t exercise, and was just trying to get by. I had aspirations, but I would try them and then give up.

Ultimately I was kind of a joke.

I feel okay admitting that because it was true.

So what did I decide to do?

Online dating.

Ha.

I kid you not; I was lonely and depressed; I felt like I needed someone at the time.

I ventured into online dating like a sloth participating in a marathon — slow, uncertain, and hilariously out of my element.

So why am I telling this?

Because I’ve been the archetype of a man who some women now feel comfortable verbally castrating on their podcasts, Tik Toks, and the like. I’ve been the “average guy.” I’ve been the chubby friend zone guy. I’ve been at…
