I did, "pregnant and broke". That was my take away. You want it both ways. On one hand, you glorify your independence, your trailblazing in the boardroom, and you hard-won self-sufficiency. On the other hand, you cling to traditional relationship dynamics where the man is expected to "take charge," pay for dinner, and provide you with a sense of "safety." The contradictions here are as glaring as they are ironic.
