“Rom-com women” from the movies don’t and have never existed. I think most men were led to believe that a lot of our lives.

I used to think that all women just want a ‘good guy’ gentleman type to come and sweep them off their feet, and you would awkwardly bump into them at a coffee shop or grocery store. I used to think most women actually liked men, wanted to date to be married, raise a good family, and live fulfilling lives together. I used to think women would take you as you are and give you a good shot until proven otherwise. They would enter a dating scenario in good faith and be their best selves.

Boy, I was a completely naive fool!

Women are not some magical, esoteric human beings to be worshipped or pedestalized. The strongest bonds in any relationship are forged in mutual recognition, not fragile illusions of perfection. A mistake so many of us make.
