As men, we’re always told, “we’ll never understand,” “those are womens spaces,” “it’s not your lived experience,” ‘That’s a woman’s issue, stay out of it,’ and ‘You’re a man, this isn’t for you to comment on,’ and for the most part we keep it moving and mind our business. We’re instructed, ‘Men can’t understand women’s issues,’ as if empathy is gendered, then questioned why we’re not empathetic enough.

We’re told to stay silent, then blamed for not speaking up. We’re asked to empathize, then exiled from the conversation. You can’t muzzle the witness and then demand a testimony.
