The Early Dating Hurdle: That One Fear-Inducing Question

A couple of years ago, I was seeing a great girl for about two months. We were at a restaurant and were having a great time talking about the Friends episode, where someone takes Ross Keller’s sandwich. That was kind of our dating experience in general, goofing off, laughing, making a great connection, brilliant chemistry, and so much banter-filled energy. Things were going really well!

Suddenly she stopped laughing, started to fiddle with her fork in the spaghetti, and said.

Her: I hope this isn’t too awkward. But, like, what are we?

I was shook, almost perplexed with what to say, as she caught me completely off guard. I could immediately start to feel my back perspire.
