Those are “Boyfriend Privileges Only” What does that even mean?

Have you ever heard:

“I don’t give boyfriend privileges until I’m your girlfriend.”

Or

“You don’t get boyfriend privileges!?”

“he wants/expects the boyfriend privileges but doesn’t put any effort in towards me?”

These statements are always a little odd to me.

Why?

Because it almost dangles a carrot of sorts to a commitment that, if it was made, wouldn’t even be a sincere commitment anyway.

After all, they would just want the “privileges that come with it”.

As per usual, I’ve done my nifty research, and here’s what I’ve heard.

What are “Boyfriend Privileges” to Women?

For some women, it’s emotional labor and time. Meeting their parents, going to important things like work events, listening to him vent about serious things, supporting him through difficult life events, getting him little gifts, and investing in themselves by sharing their own hopes/dreams/etc.
