What is Dating Market Failure? — Part 1: Inequality
Dating is trash right now.
It kinda always has been tbh. But it's gotten much, much worse. It’s the drip that became a deluge.
If you’re an average-looking man, you probably get little to no dating opportunities. This is backed up by the fact that most men view themselves as 5.9 out of 10. I would imagine if you’re single, you get flaked on when trying to arrange a first date, and you probably find texting a dense and mundane exercise to try to get a woman’s attention. It’s like bringing a knife to a drone fight. Picture that.
Don’t worry, I haven’t forgotten about the women. If you’re a woman, your issues might be slightly different. I would imagine you find an abundance of lackluster-quality guys who fail to meet some of your most basic needs. The issue with women might not be quantity; it’s quality. We do know that women find a match about 10% of the time, and men around 0.6% of the time on most online dating platforms. Plus, that doesn’t include the random dudes hitting her up on social media and on the street. (The bold ones anyway)
