Navigating the ups and downs of relationships can be made even more complicated when shitty dating advice is being followed. Unfortunately, there is a lot of bad dating advice out there constantly touted by many “false prophets.”

I believe that many women are being led astray by it — a lot of times, by their very own gender. Numerous women find themselves up a creek without a paddle — and startlingly, it’s their own tribe doing the steering.

I want to take a closer look at the problem of bad dating advice, particularly from the lens of a man, some studies and statistics, and in terms of generalities if this advice is genuinely leading women astray. As we tread this winding path, we’ll peel back the layers of its stubborn persistence, trace the ripples it creates in women’s relationships, and unearth the bitter irony — how advice intended to unlock hearts may, in fact, imprison them to a single type of man or, ironically, to the solitude of none at all.
