Tiffany Markman wrote an article called The Ugly Truth about Pretty Privilege. In the article, She said that we derive pleasure from looking at attractive people, and we also make judgments about their success. We make judgments about their levels of intelligence and their health.
But pretty privilege isn’t just something that society has created and forced us to believe like most people try to claim. It really derives from biology and evolution; when we see attractive people, the reason why we are drawn to them is that they offer something to our gene pool because attractiveness tends to be associated with things like health and fertility. People often mate, select and date people they feel can provide and give them the best genes.
In 2006, Harvard University did a study assessing the effects of attractiveness within the workplace, and they found three main things.
